So, you’ve taken the leap and created a profile… now what? Let’s look at the five basic steps of making a great first impression and getting the attention you deserve!
It’s great that you’re putting yourself out there, but if you don’t have the best possible profile, it’s a bit like going to a bar in your oldest pyjamas. So put a bit of time and a lot of thought into your profile – we promise it will pay off.
1. Make sure you match well with others
While looking at someone’s profile, have you ever wondered how we’ve calculated the match score? We won’t bore you with the details, but this clever feature will help you find your match faster and it only works if your About Me and My Ideal Match pages are completely filled in.
2. What does your name say about you?
Think carefully when you choose your username. Consider the different impressions you’d form of people who call themselves ‘Precious_Pam’ vs ‘Promiscuous_Pam’ or ‘PlayfulPete’ vs ‘PervertPete’. You definitely don’t want to attract the wrong attention.
3. Make a statement with your headline
Many times, this short little sentence is the make or break factor which decides whether someone is going to click through to your profile. So make your headline a statement – make it unique, true and personal.
4. Tell people who you are
After your profile photo, what you wrote about yourself and your match is what people viewing your profile look at next. It’s where you tell people what makes you, you. Set yourself apart. Be positive. Be honest. Keep it light and easy and remember to check your spelling and grammar.
5. Show people who you are
Any photo is better than no photo, but a great photo will get you noticed more.
Fun Fact: people with two or more profile photos get more attention, more views, more fans and more messages.
Concerned with anonymity? Not an issue – make your photos private. You can set your private photos to be visible to your Favourites only or invite specific members to view them.
